Hollywood, MD – Platform Aerospace, which provides rapid aircraft and drone prototyping, modification, and systems integration, is now the sole owner and operator of Vanilla Unmanned, the world-record holding, ultra-long endurance Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).
Vanilla Unmanned will leverage Platform Aerospace’s prototyping and integration experience to transition the UAS from a developmental aircraft into an operational asset. The Vanilla Aircraft has unmatched endurance, ability to carry and power multi- INT payloads on a single flight, and modular, simplistic design “creates a disruptive, persistent, aerial solution for both military and commercial applications,” says Adm. Timothy Heely (USN-ret), Senior VP of Strategy and former board member for the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).
Vanilla is a fixed-wing Group 3 UAS intended to be payload and mission agnostic, or “vanilla.” It’s capable of flying continuously for up to 10 days, providing uninterrupted surveillance and reconnaissance, and can integrate multiple payloads (e.g., SIGINT, EO/IR, WAMI, etc.) across multiple internal and external payload bays. Vanilla was the first winner of the AUVSI “Startup Showdown” in 2016, taking the top prize over 14 other competitors.
